The vibration will go away for about 30 seconds every once in awhile. I can feel the "vib" in the floor board and the gas pedal along with the shifter. The "vib" causes a droning hum to the entire inside of the truck almost like driving on the rumble strips on the right side of the road that wake you up if your veering off, but not violent shaking.
In 3rd or 4th gear under a load like when going up a decent hill, I can feel some shuddering or slipping of the torque converter. Is there something that can be adjusted to try to tune out the shudder or slipping or whatever might be going on?

Now, leave it in that gear, and let the rpms get back into that range, and it starts again. That to me rules out any driveline issues. It has to be engine/transmission related. And the torque converter is what is going to experience the load. I also have a lot of vibes from 3000 rpms and up, but even under no load in neutral. Shudder under load at low rpms. ... Could it be an injector or Torque converter? ... kind of felt like it was selecting two gears at once and would not do it under ... Looks like it's my turn for the Torque Converter Rumble with the 5EAT. Mine started doing it today under similar circumstances as others; 45-55 mph under load wile going up a long hill. Drive the vehicle in 6th gear, V8 mode, with a transmission input speed of 1,000–1,500 rpms (approximately 64-89 km/h (40–55 mph)), constant throttle input, and engine torque 250-375 Nm. Since it has been tuned up and there is no check engine light, it leads me to question if the transmission is causing an issue. When under a load, you feel the vibration. When your foot is off the gas, it's smooth. It almost sounds like the trans isn't disengaging properly and then slipping.

On the other hand, if it stops, its the infamous torque converter shudder which just means that the fluid is due to be changed. There isnt anyway to tell what fluid is in it. Honestly, with that many miles, and no service history, I would go ahead and change the fluid. Drop the pan, change the filter and drain the torque converter. As the title says, my 2007 Acadia with 85k miles has been vibrating under load when accelerating around 1500-2000 rpms. I would say between 2nd and 3rd gear. Stopped off at a local transmission shop and the tech drove it for a couple miles and said he doesn't think it's the transmission, but more of a mis-firing. Torque converter clutch was originally designed to lockup solid at highway speeds and felt like another gear shift (or half a gear shift). Now they are using them in a partial slip to lower engine speeds at slower vehicle speeds which has worked with little issue until the 8 speed came out. , Nov 09, 2011 · The torque converter is the route if the problem. At 1500 rpm and 38-40 mph the torque converter in the transfer case was vibrating, causing the heat shield to growl because of the transfer of vibrations. The truck was under a platinum TEC policy on it and at 95000 miles the rep agreed to cover the entire tranny. I was lucky. , Advertised stall speed ratings are published simply as a general guideline to help in the selection of the correct torque converter for a customer’s application. A torque converter will provide a range of stall speeds based on the amount of load that is placed on the torque converter. Quantize keras modelI was very close to trading my 2016 GMC Yukon Denali due to the extreme shaking and vibration coming from the tranny/rear area of the truck. With the clutch engaged, Ultramatic also transmitted some drivetrain vibration that the torque converter would otherwise have absorbed. Although this arrangement sacrificed some of the smoothness that was the main rationale for early automotive torque converter transmissions, it made Ultramatic more efficient than the early Dynaflow, at least ...
The only torque converter shudder I've ever experienced has always been on takeoff when you first start to apply throttle. Your problem sounds more like the converter trying to lock up. When you're at idle, there is no torque on the fasteners so they can 'act' loose and move around, causing your vibration problem at idle. But when going down the highway, the engine is putting a torque on the tranny, so whatever bolts are holding the two together, are loaded up. Therefore no vibrations on the road.
Never experienced a problem like this (fortunately), but wouldn't any looseness be more prevalent when the throttle is released? I would think under load any looseness/slack would be taken up by the load. In other words, I would have expected the noise/vibration to appear releasing the accelerator; not under load. Just my thoughts.
No vibration at all at idle or slower speeds/ lower gears. Only under load at higher speeds/ higher gears. Goes away when I take foot off of the accelerator. Haven't been able to solve this one yet. Thread: Gearbox / Torque Converter. So having had the XF for 2 weeks and 750 miles now, I've noticed that on light throttle under load it has, 3 or 4 times now, emitted quite a noticeable judder and the inability to really pick up speed unless 'floored' or shifted down a gear. There's no squawking between gears. It only happens when the car is accelerating from a stop and the noise and vibration stops at 10 miles per hour. Happens 75 percent of the time and in first, second and reverse. I checked the rear differential fluid and it's fine.
